How do I get a copy of a police report?
Copies of incident reports can be obtained from the Cedarburg Police Department by completing a Request for Public Records form. It normally takes two or three working days to process the request once received, depending on the status of the report; our department tries to fulfill these requests as quickly as possible. You have several options for submitting a public records request:
- Fill out a paper copy of the public records request and drop it off or mail it to our department https://www.ci.cedarburg.wi.us/sites/g/files/vyhlif4241/f/uploads/reques...
- Fill out a paper copy of the public records request, then scan and email to cpd@ci.cedarburg.wi.us https://www.ci.cedarburg.wi.us/sites/g/files/vyhlif4241/f/uploads/reques...
- Fill out our online public records request form: https://www.ci.cedarburg.wi.us/police-department/webforms/public-records...
The fee for public records requests is $0.25 per page, payable at the time the record is picked up. Records requests are generally not mailed, however exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis; the actual cost of the mailing is the responsibility of the requestor and will be added to the total cost of the records request. Records requests over $5.00 will require pre-payment before release.
Accident reports are generally available 2-3 business days after the crash. We suggest calling ahead to make sure the report you wish to obtain is available. Accident reports may be obtained at the Cedarburg Police Department; the cost is $2.00 for each accident report.
